Today we will look at the form अनेन from श्रीमद्वाल्मीकि-रामायणम् ।

तच्च गङ्गावतरणं त्वया कृतमरिन्दम|
अनेन च भवान्प्राप्तो धर्मस्यायतनं महत् || १-४४-१३||

Gita Press translation “The celebrated achievement in the shape of bringing down the Gaṅgā (to the terrestrial plane) has been accomplished by you, O subduer of foes, and by this you have attained the great reward of virtue (in the shape of the realm of Brahmā).”

‘इदम्’ gets प्रातिपदिकसंज्ञा by 1-2-45 अर्थवदधातुरप्रत्ययः प्रातिपदिकम् and सर्वनाम-सञ्ज्ञा by 1-1-27 सर्वादीनि सर्वनामानि । The विवक्षा here is तृतीया-एकवचनम् । 4-1-2 स्वौजसमौट्छष्टाभ्याम्भिस्ङेभ्याम्भ्यस्ङसिँभ्याम्भ्यस्ङसोसाम्ङ्योस्सुप् mandates the प्रत्ययाः सुँ, औ, जस् etc. after the प्रातिपदिकम् ‘इदम्’ ।

(1) इदम् + टा ।

(2) इद अ + टा । By 7-2-102 त्यदादीनामः, इदम् gets the अकारादेशः। As per 1-1-52 अलोऽन्त्यस्य , only the ending मकार: gets replaced.

(3) इद् अ + टा । By 6-1-97 अतो गुणे, the अकारः at the end of ‘इद’ and the following अकारादेशः is replaced by अकारः (पररूपम्) as एकादेशः ।

(4) अन् अ + टा । By 7-2-112 अनाप्यकः, the इद् part of इदम् that is without the ककारः gets अन् as its replacement, when the विभक्तिः affixes of the आप्-प्रत्याहारः follow. आप् is the प्रत्याहारः made of the सुँप् affixes from टा until सुप्।

(5) अन + इन । By 7-1-12 टाङसिङसामिनात्स्याः, since टा is following a प्रातिपदिकम् ending in अ, it is replaced by इन।

(6) अनेन । By 6-1-87 आद्गुणः, in place of the preceding अकारः and the following अच् letter (इकारः), there is a single substitute of a गुण: letter (एकार:)।
