There is no feminine word which is declined like स्त्री because 1-4-4 नेयङुवङ्स्थानावस्त्री specifically excludes स्त्री (which means स्त्री can take the आदेश: इयँङ् and also keep the नदी-संज्ञा). Also 6-4-79 स्त्रियाः and 6-4-80 वाऽम्शसोः are specific to the प्रातिपदिकम् स्त्री.
Questions:
1. Which पुंलिङ्ग-प्रातिपदिकम् that we studied also has a unique declension? Which are the rules that make it unique?
2. In this verse Sb11-16-13 from श्रीमद्भागवतम् what is the विभक्तिः and वचनम् of विष्णू in the second line? How was it formed?
1. “सखि” is the पुंलिङ्ग-प्रातिपदिकम् that we studied also has a unique declension.
The rules that make it unique are :
४.७) which takes the अनुवृत्ति from ङिति हृस्वश्च (१.४. ४.३)
2. In this verse 11.16.13 from श्रीमद्भागवतम् विष्णू in the second line is in प्रथमा एकवचनम् – विष्णुः
Namaste,
The rules are
a) 1-4-7 शेषो घ्यसखि , this prohibits assigning घिसंज्ञा to सखि शब्द: . So all the rules related to the घि-संज्ञा will not apply to सखि.
b) 7-1-93 अनँङ् सौ (Satishji’s notes: अनँङ् is substituted for the अङ्गम् (base) सखि when the non-vocative affix सुँ follows.)
c) 7-1-92 सख्युरसम्बुद्धौ (Satishji’s notes: Following the word सखि that has the designation अङ्गम् , the non-vocative affixes that have the designation सर्वनामस्थानम् behave as if they have णकारः as an indicatory letter. )
=> विष्णू रुद्राणाम्
Thank you Satishji.
There is another rule which specifically mentions “सखि” – which one is that?
It is chapter 10 (विभूतियोग: ) verse 21
This पाद: “आदित्यानामहं विष्णु:” also comes in the गीता. Can you give the number of the श्लोक:?
