Today we will look at the derivation of the word श्रियम् in चण्डिकाध्यानम् 14

विधेहि देवि कल्याणं विधेहि विपुलां श्रियम्।
रूपं देहि जयं देहि यशो देहि द्विषो जहि॥

(1) श्री + अम् – सुँप् प्रत्ययाः are ordained by 4-1-2 स्वौजसमौट्छस्टाभ्याम्भिस्ङेभ्याम्भ्यस्ङसिभ्याम्भ्यस्ङसोसाम्ङ्योस्सुप्‌ । of which we get the अम् प्रत्ययः because we are deriving the accusative singular form.

(2) श्रिय् + अम् – इ्यँङ् आदेशः is ordained by 6-4-77 अचि श्नुधातुभ्रुवां य्वोरियङुवङौ । The अँकारः and ङकारः of इयँङ् get इत्-सञ्ज्ञा by 1-3-2 उपदेशेऽजनुनासिक इत् । and 1-3-3 हलन्त्यम् । respectively and take लोपः by 1-3-9 तस्य लोपः । Because ङकारः is an इत्, by 1-1-53 ङिच्च । only the last अल् is replaced.

(3) श्रियम् – Is the final form
