Today, we will look at the form तया from देवी-माहात्म्यम् 1-91

निर्गम्य दर्शने तस्थौ ब्रह्मणोऽव्यक्तजन्मनः।
उत्तस्थौ च जगन्नाथस्तया मुक्तो जनार्दनः॥

(1) तद् + टा – The सुँप्-प्रत्ययाः are ordained by 4-1-2 स्वौजसमौट्छस्टाभ्याम्भिस्ङेभ्याम्भ्यस्ङसिभ्याम्भ्यस्ङसोसाम्ङ्योस्सुप्‌ । and since our विवक्षा is to make तृतीया एकवचनं रूपम्, we choose the टा प्रत्ययः. टा gets विभक्ति-सञ्ज्ञा by 1-4-104 विभक्तिश्च ।

(2) त अ + आ – By 7-2-102 त्यदादीनामः ।, तद् gets the अकारादेशः. The टकारः of टा gets इत्-स़ञ्ज्ञा by 1-3-7 चुटू । and takes लोपः by 1-3-9 तस्य लोपः ।

(3) त + आ – By 6-1-97 अतो गुणे । the अकारः of त and the अकारादेशः get पररूपम् as एकादेशः.

(4) त आ + आ – Since we are forming the रूपम् in the feminine, the टाप्-प्रत्ययः is ordained by 4-1-4 अजाद्यतष्टाप्‌ । Only आ remains after अनुबन्ध-लोपः.

(5) ता + आ – त and आ give ता by 6-1-101 अकः सवर्णे दीर्घः ।

(6) ते + आ – By 7-3-105 आङि चापः ।, ता gets the एकारादेशः.

(7) तया – Final form is obtained by अयादि-सन्धिः (6-1-78 एचोऽयवायावः ।)

Question:

1.  Under the सूत्रम् 4-1-2 स्वौजसमौट्छस्टाभ्याम्भिस्ङेभ्याम्भ्यस्ङसिभ्याम्भ्यस्ङसोसाम्ङ्योस्सुप्‌ we find the following statement in the सिद्धान्त-कौमुदी – “सुङस्योरुकारेकारौ जशटङपाश्चेत:”  Please explain what this means.  (The पदच्छेद: is सुङस्यो: उकारेकारौ जशटङपा: च इत:)

2. Please do सन्धि-विच्छेद: of ब्रह्मणोऽव्यक्तजन्मनः and जगन्नाथस्तया.  Please mention the relevant rules.

3. In step 7 after applying 6-1-78 एचोऽयवायावः why didn’t 8-3-19 लोपः शाकल्यस्य get a chance to apply and remove the यकार: optionally?

4. Which is the other term that पाणिनि: uses to refer to the प्रत्यय: टा?  Please give an example of a सूत्रम् (which we have studied) where पाणिनि: uses टा and also one where he uses the other term.

5. In step 2 the अकारादेश: replaced only the ending letter of तद् and in step 6 the एकारादेश: replaced only the ending letter of ता.  Which सूत्रम् was used to make this decision?
