You can be without being anything in particular. Drop this idea that I should be someone in particular, that idea, that is the basis of personality. The idea that I should be someone, that idea, allow it to drop, I need not be someone. I be. I be. That is freedom which is love. Love is prayer as Aum thrice now. Aum..one Aum..two Aum..merge. Now be aware of the body, the posture, keep it upright by pressing the legs to the ground. Also relax by keeping the hands and the shoulders loose, stretch the back well upwards, sport a smile. This is the posture, sthira sukham asanam. Scan the sensation of touch all through the body. How do you know the body, through the sensation of touch. Now you do not move anymore, make a resolve not to move any more and be aware of the sensation of touch all through the body. It is not same sensation all through, there are obviously variations, the varying sensations. Be aware of the varying sensations. A combination of all these sensations is called the body. A particular sensation is taken as a limb of the body. That is how the idea of the body is generated in the mind, generated from the sensations. Be aware of the body part by part which is same as being aware of the varying sensations. Begin with the right foot, ankle, leg bone, cuff muscle, right knee, pull the kneecap one time and release, the thigh muscles, thigh bone, be aware. Now come to the left foot, ankle, leg bone, cuff muscles, postpone all movements and be aware of the knee cap, pull the kneecap one time and release. The thigh muscles, the thigh bone, be aware of the seat, the loins, the abdomen, be aware of the tummy, the diaphragm, gently expanding and contracting. Be aware of the lungs, gently expanding and contracting. Come to the right hand, begin with the fingers, the palm, the wrist, forearm, the biceps and triceps, shoulder and the shoulder blade. Come to the left, begin with the fingers, the palm, wrist, forearm, biceps and triceps, shoulder and the shoulder blade. Now, come to the backbone, begin at the bottom, be aware from inside, not from outside, try. Do you find any small discomfort? Stretch the back upwards, a variation in the sensations at the bottom of the backbone, from inside, that variation is taken as pain, if any. You watch that sensation of discomfort or pain with a smile, watch with a smile, accept with a smile. Don’t be distracted, be focus on the lower backbone from inside, accept a little pain with a smile and slowly move upwards, try, in the middle and the top. Come to the neck, the muscles around the neck, any variation in the sensation, accept it with a smile. The back of the head, the face, the chin, cheeks, mouth, the eyes, the forehead, the skull and the brain. Scan the entire body from the head, gradually downwards, upto the toes and any points of discomfort, accept them with a smile. This stream of sensations, this stream, flow of varying sensations, now you ask a question, can there be a thing called body other that these sensations? Interesting, worth examining.
