Aum Watch the mind. Mind is a tool, an instrument of thinking like eyes are a tool of seeing, ears of hearing. Similarly, mind is a tool of thinking and I use the tool, but the mind that is endlessly thinking, thinking non-stop is a problem. Before making any further progress, I have to address this problem. Looking at oneself is meditation, looking at the body, thereby understanding the body, looking at the mind, thereby understanding the mind is meditation. Understanding is meditation. Ideation versus understanding, understanding is meditation. AGain, mind is a tool of thinking. The tool working, when needed and also when not needed is a problem. Number two; when I step back from the mind, I can use the mind to think. When I identify with the mind, the mind uses me. I become a victim of the mind, victim of its desires and anxieties, worries etc. Therefore, I step back and watch the mind, the flow. Interestingly, as I try to watch, the mind becomes quiet. However, when I forget my status as the watcher, mind becomes active. Therefore, trying to watch is the all important thing. I allow the mind to drop the past. I remain. I allow the mind to drop the imagination of the future. I remain. Look at that. I am but no past and no future, no imagination of the future. Amazing. I am. I cannot define who I am without the input of the past. I need not. I am. Can I be without any concern for the future? That is a challenge, a big challenge. I am. I am aware of the body. Just check the asanam by stretching upwards and pressing downwards at the same time, relaxing the shoulders and the hands. Giving an auto suggestion to the muscles of the tummy to relax, also to the chest to relax. Sport a smile that relaxes the face, see that and the brain. Look at the brain, allow it to drop, ‘next what?’ and simply abide in the now. Now, the present moment. Made any plans for the day? Allow them to drop and abide in the now. Now. Are you distracted? Possible, nothing wrong. When distracted, smile and say the word ‘Now’, simple. The distraction is over, you abide in the now. Now. Is now repetitive? Check it. Is now repetitive? Now. Now. Now. No, now is not repetitive, it is ever new. Now is ever new, ever fresh, now is timeless because it is not repetitive. Now is also called eternal, meaning beyond time. In now there is no time. Now. What is now? The present moment. What is the present moment? It’s not time, then what is it? The presence. Now is the presence. Of what? Not necessary, need not be anything in particular, simply the presence. Now is the presence. It is the mind which says presence must be something. That is called naam-roopa buddhi, need not be something, dismiss it. Having dismissed that notion, abide as now, the presence. Now is the presence boundless presence. Now is the presence and the presence I am. The presence I am. I am. Aum shanti shanti shantiH. Relax, sit at ease, try to keep the sense of Now, the sense of presence. That is very powerful. Relax. Slowly open the eyes. Aum
