Aum Take a deep breath thrice. In doing so I drop all worldly thoughts and remain cheerfully silent. Prayer with Aum thrice, Aum Aum Aum. Sthira Sukham Asanam. I am aware of the surroundings and accept the surroundings. Be aware of the posture, keep the back well stretched. You may imagine a string on top of the head pulling upwards. Now fix the back and lock it as it were. The shoulders get hunched up in the process, allow them to relax, hands in the lap. Posture is always fresh in the present moment. Allow the tummy to relax, chest, sport a smile. The face and the eyes relaxed. When I remain aware without mind, the sense of mine and also without me, be aware without ego, that relaxes the brain. Now the posture qualifies to be called Asanam. No move, just take a resolve not to move anymore. Take the challenge not to move. The body is still, mind is still, prana continues to express as breath. Prana which is universal keeps this body going alive. There is the small movement of the prana. Watch the tip of the nose, the tip of the nostrils, get hold of the subtle sense of touch as the breath goes in and comes out, very subtle sense of touch at the tip of the nostrils. Using that sense of touch at the tip only as a mark, watch the breath. Watch the breath at the tip of the nostrils. Remember the gate keeper analogy, I am the gate keeper watching the breath at the tip of the nostrils. It is quite possible that the mind wanders away and if that happens, do not get annoyed, do not get disappointed, never condemn the mind, no condemn yourself, just be aware, smile, gently bring back the mind, very gently awareness, lovingly bring back the mind and watch the breath. Breath is always fresh because breath is always present, there is no past, no future in the breath, that is the beauty of breath, always fresh, present, watch. I love breath because compare to mind, which is either past or future, breath is ever present. I love breath, watch the breath. Ignore the tiny gap at the end of inhalation and exhalation in the breath, thereby, making it continuous, watch the breath, try. When it is continuous, the idea of in-breath and out-breath will slowly vanish and there will be one string of breath, try, requires great practice, just try. Watch the breath. Now you may stop watching the breath, take your time. Just Be. Do not allow the mental effort to start, remain silent and just Be. Aum Shanti Shanti ShantiH. Relax, sit at ease, keep the eyes closed and relax. Whenever you find yourself thinking for no purpose, you may shift to watching the breath. Slowly open the eyes.
