AUM Shree Ganeshay NamaH. Prayer is an act of love and hence there is no seeking in it, an expression of love. I look at myself by seeking I make myself small. When prayer is an expression of pure love without any seeking, certainly there is no smallness, the mind remains spacelike. Shree Ganeshay NamaH Shree Gurubhyo NamaH Sthira sukhamasanam. Look at the posture with the freshness of the present moment. This cultivates yogabala, the strength of yoga. It is not physical strength, it is stamina, endurance and it is the capacity to transcend the body, yogabalen chaiva, bhagwan says. Stretch the back, keep the hands in the lap, in mahamudra signifying acceptance of one's own life. I should be in harmony with myself, that is possible when I accept the life that I lived in the past, that I am living now and that I am going to live in the future. I accept it. I am in harmony with myself, samattavam. Relax the shoulders, a smile on the lips, like the inperceptible smile of Dakshinamurti, mudit vadanam Dakshinamurti mide. Pay attention to the eyes. Cultivate attention, awareness which is same as watchfulness. Watchfulness is meditation. When you watch you are neither unhappy nor happy, you just watch, you are sama. When you involve yourself, you are either happy or unhappy. Happy/unhappy cycle is samasara, whereas samattavam, arising from watchfulness is yoga. It is divinity, that is carefully cultivated by watchfulness. Watch the eyes, of course, they are kept lightly closed, sthira sukhamasanam. Watch the posture, that is the easy part. Now come to watching the mind. There is no how, just try it, trying to watch the mind is the all important thing of meditation. As you try to watch the mind, mind becomes silent, which means there are no thoughts. Suppose a thought comes, do not welcome it if it is a lovable thought. Do not entertain the thought even if it is very lovable, do not get annoyed that the thought has come. Just watch it, mind becomes silent, remain silent. Suppose a thought comes which is a very bad thought, do not condemn the thought. Do not condemn yourself for getting such a thought. You are not the thought, you are the watchfulness. Watch the thought with a smile, become silent. Suppose a thought comes, you ask a basic question. Does the thought come or go ? it goes. It comes from the memory and it goes. Really thought is not coming, it is going. I let it go and become silent. What is the reward being silent ? there is no reward. I am myself when the mind is silent, that is the reward enough. Be silent. Suppose thought still persists, thoughts persist, you say mentally chup. Say to the mind, to the naughty mind chup, with a smile, chup and become silent. Chup...chup. Go deep, chup. Aum ShantiH ShantiH ShantiH. Relax, sit at ease. This is a game with the mind, you grow by playing it daily. Slowly open the eyes.
