AUM Shree Ganeshay NamaH Shree Gurubhyo NamaH Sthira sukhamasanam. Watch the posture, by watching I mean, feel, feel the posture. Watching is always feeling, not thinking about. For e.g. How is this posture ? Is it okay ? How long will it be ? All that is not watching, i.e. thinking about the posture. When I feel the body from within, now I am watching the posture and in that watching there are no thoughts. Interestingly when there are no thouhgts, there may not be any movements of the body also except for an occassional involuntary movement. Also when you watch, the opposites do not exist, comfort-discomfort etc. because all opposites are nothing but the spinning of the mind, thought created, watch the posture. This shanti of watching is the sukha, of the sutra sthira sukhamasanam. This state of Being, watchful Being, is asana.  in which the alata of the mind, the fire brand of the mind is absent, alata shantiH. Sthira sukhamasanam. Now If I allow the mind to spin and identify with the spin by habit, that is how the opposites are created. The name of the habit is avidya. I stop the habit for a while, alata   shanti, and abide as the watchful Being, that is called sadhana. In sadhana, there is a connectedness with the inner ground of the Being. This connectedness with the inner Being does not oppose the activity of the mind and body in the line of duty. On the other hand, this connectedness enriches the activity in the line of duty. This connectedness is called asana, sthira sukhamasanam. Stretch the back, lock it in position, ignore any little discomfort, accept it joyously and feel the hands held in mahamudra. Mahamudra signifies acceptance, receiving without any projection. When you accept, there is inner silence. Acceptance leads to silence, shanti. Mentally resisting anything, resisting what is, leads to resentment and agitation, that is the spin of alata. When there is acceptance, the alata doesn't spin and there is shanti.   Of course, what needs to be done gets done, for e.g. you visit your past and identify one or two major failures in life, already the alata is at work and definitely I do not feel good, when I think of my own failure. Now I try to see that the failure is given by Ishwara as much as the success is given by Ishwara. I accept the entire past as Ishwara's blessing. As I grow into acceptance of the past, the alata stops spinning to that extent. Visit your present, obviously there are a few small and big things, visit them, clearly see them. They are the source of suffering and pain. That is all the spinning of the alata. I learn to see the present as Ishwara's handy work, if not the blessing of Ishwara. Of course, what needs to be done gets done,   but I learn to accept what is. I stop resenting (?) what is, I try. Trying is the all important thing, I accept, however difficult it may be,   what is. See that acceptance leads to silence, shantoham. Aum ShantiH ShantiH ShantiH. Relax, sit at ease and relax.  Slowly open the eyes.
