AUM Shree Ganeshay NamaH I pray to Ishwara and drop the elements of bhoktruttva - enjoyership, kartuttava - doership that is with reference to the world, bhuta - the past and bhavishya - the future, with reference to life, my own life and be spacelike. Shree Gurubhyo NamaH Sthira sukhamasanam. Keep the eyes lightly closed, sport a smile. Keep the hands in the lap in mahamudra, the right palm resting in the left, thumbs touching. Watch the surroundings, be aware of the surroundings and choose not to resist anything of the surroundings, any sound etc., any person etc. and also any situation or even. I accept everything even like Bhagwan accepts everything. Lord Dakshinamurti seems to accepts everything with a smile. I follow that example. Drop all mental resistance and resentment and accept all around, that is one significance of the mahamudra. I accept all around, in the family, in the community, in the society and in the world at large, I accept. First lable something as evil and then resist it mentally, I drop all that and accept all. Mahamudra also means I recognize the abundant grace of Ishwara in my life. Even as I sit here, now and here, I am the recipient of abundant grace of Ishwara. Ishwara pervades all, out and in. Thereforer, Ishwara's grace pervade all, out and in. Akasha, space, is Ishwara's grace. Vayu, tejas, the heat content, aapaH - waters and Prithivi - the earth, are all Ishwara's grace. And I am that recipient of that grace constantly, dhanyoham, I am blessed. I look into my past life, I deliberately look into my past life. It is not remembering the past and becoming sad, it is examining the past. Past seems to be some successes and quite a few failures. This is how the mind divides the past. Everything is Ishwara's grace, no success, no failure, everything of the past was Ishwara's grace. A failure contributes as much as a success to the overall life and all life is Ishwara's grace. As I remember the past, I accept every aspect of the past, including the so-called failures as Ishwara's grace. I am constantly receiving Ishwara's grace, dhanyoham, I am blessed. Now think of the future, not to get worried about the future but to surrender it to Ishwara. I surrender all concern about future, all concern about future. The self-concern, concern about the near and dear, I surrender to Ishwara. Any concern about the society, any concern about greenhouse gases etc., I surrender to Ishwara. I am ready to receive a life as it unfolds day after day as Ishwara's grace. I am thus constantly receiving Ishwara's krupa, the grace, dhanyoham, I am blessed. Dhanyoham, dhanyoham. Now start watching the breath, it is same as watching the sense of touch at the tip of the nose. Now you can see the mind could be very fickle, chanchala. Don't complain against the mind, just notice that it is very fickle. What all you have to do is just watch the breath but the mind may not obliged all the time, just notice it. When the mind wanders away, become alert, bring back the mind with a smile and again watch the breath. Play with the mind, if it runs away, bring it back with a smile, and watch the breath. Slowly you become familiar with your own mind, watch the breath. Don't judge the breath as a shallow or otherwise, whatever it is, doesn't matter, just watch the breath. 'What happens by watching the breath ?', don't ask that question, just watch, you become familiar with your mind, that's all. Don't get bored by watching the breath, just watch the breath. As you watch the breath, the mind slowly becomes pure and you get connected to your own fullness, just watch the breath. Now stop watching the breath, take your time and just Be. Aum ShantiH ShantiH ShantiH. Relax, sit at ease and relax. Choose to be silent as much as you can. Slowly open the eyes.
