AUM   I drop from the mind all the baggage, all the past and imagination of the future. I drop all plans of action and all ideas of accomplishing in the world. Simply I Am. Now, and I pray to Ganesha,  Shree Ganeshay NamaH, so that I can overcome the obstacles created by the mind with a smile. Shree Gurubhyo NamaH, I salute the saints and sages of the world who blessed mankind with the wisdom of yoga. I fontly remember the instructions of the blessed lord, samam kaya shirogrivam dharayan nachalam, sthira. And sit in the posture, keeping the back, neck and the head straight, hands touching the sides, the palms sitting in the bowl created by the legs or on the legs or before the legs whichever gives balance to the posture. Now I see the posture is samam,   the search for sama, the sameness, which is the truth, advaitam samatam gatam, begins with the posture, which can be best described as samam. The search continues into the mind and then culminates in the self, search for sama. The posture is sama, the legs, the hands, the nostrils, the eyes, earlobes and the brain within sama, all characterised by sameness. Samam, that is the mantra. Sport a smile on the lips even while keeping the eyelids softly closed. Notice the transformation that happens by the smile in the face and in the mind. Remember bhagwan Buddha, even as you sport a smile. The inner smile signifies the quality of sama in the mind. I accept with the smile the opposites of success and failure in life, sama. I accept with the smile the pleasure and pain in life, sukha-dukha, sama, because truth is not in the opposites, truth is in samattvam, advaitam samatam gatam, samattvam yoga uchhyate. Be aware of the surroundings and notice the peace and silence all around. Try to listen to the silence all around. Realise, try to know that the silence is more profound than any speech and you are that silence. Listen to the silence, visualize the woods silently meditating, visualize the mountains, the Pocono mounts silently meditating. Visualize Prithivi, the globe, dhyayati eva prithivi, meditating as though. Antariksham, the sky, wind or no wind sky is silent, meditating. Dyauho, visualize as well as you can the depths of the infinite space, it is a deep silence, shanta dyauho. Now I look within in my heart there is shanti, peace and silence, I smile. Shantoham I am shanti, the silence of the Being. I am not the noise of the mind nor the movements of the body. I am the silence of the Being, shantoham. Focus on the eyes, called shambhavi mudra, one of the meditative postures. See that the eyelids do not press, the thoughts resolve but interestingly I am fully alert. Can you see thought as a distraction from yourself ? I am fully alert. Shivoham. Aum ShantiH ShantiH ShantiH. Relax, sit at ease, massage the legs if necessary, massaging the legs signifies self reliance. Relax, slowly open the eyes.
