Translation – One’s success and the enemy’s failure – these two alone constitute political science. Having accepted this, eloquence is displayed by the wise.

(1) स्वीकृत्य = ऊरीकृत्य – having accepted

ऊरीकृत्य is derived from the verbal root √कृ (डुकृञ् करणे ८. १०) preceded by the term ‘ऊरी’। ‘ ऊरी’ gets the designation गति: here as per 1-4-61 ऊर्यादिच्विडाचश्च – The terms ‘ऊरी’ etc as well terms ending in the तद्धित: affix ‘च्विँ’ or ‘डाच्’ get the designation ‘गति’ provided they are used in conjunction with a verb.

Note: Besides accent considerations, the purpose of assigning the designation ‘गति’ is to facilitate compound formation prescribed by the सूत्रम् 2-2-18 कुगतिप्रादयः which in turn allows for the substitution ‘ल्यप्‌’ (in place of ‘क्त्वा’) prescribed by the सूत्रम् 7-1-37 समासेऽनञ्पूर्वे क्त्वो ल्यप्‌ (in step 5.)

Note: Since the term ‘ऊरी’ has the designation ‘गति’ here it also gets the निपात-सञ्ज्ञा by 1-4-56 प्राग्रीश्वरान्निपाताः and hence the अव्यय-सञ्ज्ञा by 1-1-37 स्वरादिनिपातमव्ययम्।

(2) कृ + क्त्वा । By 3-4-21 समानकर्तृकयोः पूर्वकाले – The affix ‘क्त्वा’ is used following a verbal root which denotes a prior action relative to that of another verbal root, provided the agent of both the actions is the same. In the present example the later action (having the same agent – ‘wise’) is प्रतायते (‘is displayed.’)

(3) अलौकिक-विग्रह: –
ऊरी + कृ क्त्वा । By 2-2-18 कुगतिप्रादयः – The indeclinable ‘कु’, terms having the designation ‘गति’ (ref. 1-4-60 गतिश्च etc) as well as the terms ‘प्र’ etc. (ref. 1-4-58 प्रादयः) invariably compound with a syntactically related term and the resulting compound gets the designation तत्पुरुष:।
Note: The अनुवृत्ति: of नित्यम् (invariably) comes down from the prior सूत्रम् 2-2-17 नित्यं क्रीडाजीविकयोः।

(4) By 1-2-43 प्रथमानिर्दिष्टं समास उपसर्जनम् – the term ‘ऊरी’ gets the designation उपसर्जनम् because in the सूत्रम् 2-2-18 (which prescribes the compounding) the term कुगतिप्रादयः ends in the nominative case. Hence the term ‘ऊरी’ is placed in the prior position in the compound as per the सूत्रम् 2-2-30 उपसर्जनं पूर्वम्‌ – In a compound a term which has the designation ‘उपसर्जन’ should be placed in the prior position.

Note: ‘ऊरी + कृ क्त्वा’ gets the designation प्रातिपदिकम्‌ by 1-2-46 कृत्तद्धितसमासाश्च।

(5) ऊरी + कृ ल्यप् । By 7-1-37 समासेऽनञ्पूर्वे क्त्वो ल्यप्‌ – When the affix ‘क्त्वा’ occurs at the end of a compound, it is replaced by ‘ल्यप्’ provided the prior member of the compound is a अव्‍ययम् other than ‘नञ्’ (ref. 2-2-6).
Note: As per 1-1-56 स्थानिवदादेशोऽनल्विधौ, the substitution ‘ल्यप्’ (in place of the affix ‘क्त्वा’) inherits the property of being a कित् (having the letter ‘क्’ as a इत्) affix with the designation of कृत् (by 3-1-93) and आर्धधातुकम् (by 3-4-114.)

(6) ऊरी + कृ य । अनुबन्ध-लोपः by 1-3-3 हलन्त्यम्, 1-3-8 लशक्वतद्धिते and 1-3-9 तस्य लोपः।

Note: 1-1-5 क्क्ङिति च prevents 7-3-84 सार्वधातुकार्धधातुकयोः from applying.

(7) ऊरी + कृ तुँक् य By 6-1-71 ह्रस्वस्य पिति कृति तुक् – When followed by a कृत् affix which is a पित् (has the letter ‘प्’ as a इत्), a short vowel takes the augment ‘तुँक्’। As per 1-1-46 आद्यन्तौ टकितौ, the augment ‘तुँक्’ joins after the short vowel ‘ऋ’।

(8) ऊरी + कृ त् य । अनुबन्ध-लोप: by 1-3-3 हलन्त्यम्, 1-3-2 उपदेशेऽजनुनासिक इत् and 1-3-9 तस्य लोपः

= ऊरीकृत्य ।

‘ऊरीकृत्य’ gets the अव्यय-सञ्ज्ञा by 1-1-40 क्त्वातोसुन्कसुनः with the help of 1-1-56 स्थानिवदादेशोऽनल्विधौ। This allows 2-4-82 to apply below.

(9) ऊरीकृत्य + सुँ (default) । By 4-1-2 स्वौजसमौट्छष्टाभ्याम्भिस्ङेभ्याम्भ्यस्ङसिँभ्याम्भ्यस्ङसोसाम्ङ्योस्सुप्

(10) ऊरीकृत्य । By 2-4-82 अव्ययादाप्सुपः – The feminine affix आप् and सुँप् affixes that are prescribed after a अव्ययम् take the लुक् elision.

Questions:

1. Commenting on the सूत्रम् 1-4-61 ऊर्यादिच्विडाचश्च (used in step 1) the तत्त्वबोधिनी says – च्विडाचौ कृभ्वस्तियोगे विहितौ, तत्साहचर्यादूर्यादीनामपि तत्रैव गतिसंज्ञा। माधवादिग्रन्थे तु ‘आविःप्रादुःशब्दौ मुक्त्वा, अन्येषां करोतिनैव योगे गतिसंज्ञा’ इति स्थितम्। Please explain.

2. Can you spot two षष्ठी-तत्पुरुष: compounds in the verses?

3. Which कृत् affix is used to derive the feminine प्रातिपदिकम् ‘नीति’ (seen in the form नीति: (प्रथमा-एकवचनम्) in the verses)?

4. Where has the सूत्रम् 2-2-6 नञ्‌ been used in the commentary?

5. Which सूत्रम् justifies the use of a fifth case affix in the form ब्राह्मणादित्वात् used in the commentary?

6. How would you say this in Sanskrit?
“Having accepted Śrī Rāma’s sandals, Bharata returned to Ayodhyā.”

Easy questions:

1. In the fourth quarter of Chapter Six of the अष्टाध्यायी can you find the सूत्रम् which prescribes the substitution ‘आ’ in the form प्रतायते? (Hint: The अनुवृत्ति: of ‘आत्’ runs down from 6-4-41 विड्वनोरनुनासिकस्यात्‌ to 6-4-45 सनः क्तिचि लोपश्चास्यान्यतरस्याम्।) What is the alternate form for प्रतायते?

2. From which verbal root is the form विस्तार्यते (used in the commentary) derived?

  1. 1. Commenting on the सूत्रम् 1-4-61 ऊर्यादिच्विडाचश्च (used in step 1) the तत्त्वबोधिनी says – च्विडाचौ कृभ्वस्तियोगे विहितौ, तत्साहचर्यादूर्यादीनामपि तत्रैव गतिसंज्ञा। माधवादिग्रन्थे तु ‘आविःप्रादुःशब्दौ मुक्त्वा, अन्येषां करोतिनैव योगे गतिसंज्ञा’ इति स्थितम्। Please explain.
    Answer: The affixes ‘च्वि’ and ‘डाच्’ are both mandated only when used with the verbal root √कृ (डुकृञ् करणे ८. १०) or √भू (भू सत्तायाम् १. १) or √अस् (असँ भुवि २. ६०). Since the सूत्रम् 1-4-61 ऊर्यादिच्विडाचश्च mentions the terms ऊरी etc alongside ‘च्वि’ and ‘डाच्’, from this association (साहचर्यम्) we understand that just like in the case of terms ending in the तद्धित: affix ‘च्विँ’ or ‘डाच्’, the terms ऊरी etc also get the गतिसंज्ञा only when used with the verbal root √कृ (डुकृञ् करणे ८. १०) or √भू (भू सत्तायाम् १. १) or √अस् (असँ भुवि २. ६०).
In the work of the grammarian माधवः (the author of the famed धातुवृत्ति:) and others, it is further stated that excluding the terms ‘आविस्’ and ‘प्रादुस्’, the remaining words in the ऊर्यादिगणः get the गतिसंज्ञा only when used in conjunction with the verbal root √कृ (डुकृञ् करणे ८. १०).

    2. Can you spot two षष्ठी-तत्पुरुष: compounds in the verses?
Answer: आत्मोदयः and परज्यानिः are two षष्ठी-तत्पुरुष: compounds used in the verses.

    आत्मन उदयः = आत्मोदयः – one’s success
Note: The sixth case affix in आत्मनः is as per the सूत्रम् 2-3-50 षष्ठी शेषे।
    अलौकिक-विग्रह: –
    आत्मन् ङस् + उदय सुँ । By 2-2-8 षष्ठी – A पदम् ending in a sixth case affix optionally compounds with a (syntactically related) पदम् ending in a सुँप् affix and the resulting compound gets the designation तत्पुरुष:।
By 1-2-43 प्रथमानिर्दिष्टं समास उपसर्जनम् – the term ‘आत्मन् ङस्’ gets the designation उपसर्जनम् because in the सूत्रम् 2-2-8 (which prescribes the compounding) the term षष्ठी ends in the nominative case. Hence ‘आत्मन् ङस्’ is placed in the prior position in the compound as per the सूत्रम् 2-2-30 उपसर्जनं पूर्वम्‌।
Note: ‘आत्मन् ङस् + उदय सुँ’ gets the designation प्रातिपदिकम्‌ by 1-2-46 कृत्तद्धितसमासाश्च। This allows 2-4-71 to apply in the next step.
    = आत्मन् + उदय । By 2-4-71 सुपो धातुप्रातिपदिकयोः।
Note: Here ‘आत्मन्’ has the designation पदम् as per 1-4-14 सुप्तिङन्तं पदम् with the help of 1-1-62 प्रत्ययलोपे प्रत्ययलक्षणम्। This allows 8-2-7 नलोपः प्रातिपदिकान्तस्य to apply in the next step.
    = आत्म + उदय । By 8-2-7 नलोप: प्रातिपदिकान्तस्य।
    = आत्मोदय । By 6-1-87 आद्‌गुणः।
Now as per 8-2-1 पूर्वत्रासिद्धम्, the elision of the letter ‘न्’ (done by 8-2-7) to arrive at the form ‘आत्म’ should not be visible to any prior rule (in the अष्टाध्यायी)।
But 8-2-2 नलोपः सुप्स्वरसंज्ञातुग्विधिषु कृति limits the authority of 8-2-1 and says that the elision of the letter ‘न्’ (done by 8-2-7) is not visible only to those rules that are in the four categories mentioned below – others do see the elision of the letter ‘न्’।
    The four categories are:
    1. सुँब्विधौ – rules relating to सुँप् affixes
    2. स्वरविधौ – rules relating to accents (in the वेद:)
    3. सञ्ज्ञाविधौ – rules that give names or designations
    4. कृति तुँग्विधौ – rules that prescribe a तुँक् augment in connection with a कृत्-प्रत्यय:।
Since 6-1-87 आद्‌गुणः does not fall in any of the above four categories, it does see the elision of the letter ‘न्’ and hence applies.

Note: As per the सूत्रम् 2-4-26 परवल्लिङ्गं द्वन्द्वतत्पुरुषयोः, the compound प्रातिपदिकम् ‘आत्मोदय’ is masculine since the latter member ‘उदय’ of the compound is masculine. The compound declines like राम-शब्द:।
    The विवक्षा is प्रथमा-एकवचनम् ।
    आत्मोदय + सुँ । By 4-1-2 स्वौजसमौट्छष्टाभ्याम्भिस्ङेभ्याम्भ्यस्ङसिँभ्याम्भ्यस्ङसोसाम्ङ्योस्सुप्।
    = आत्मोदय + स् । अनुबन्ध-लोपः by 1-3-2 उपदेशेऽजनुनासिक इत्, 1-3-9 तस्य लोपः।
    = आत्मोदयः । रुँत्व-विसर्गौ by 8-2-66 ससजुषो रुः and 8-3-15 खरवसानयोर्विसर्जनीयः।

    परस्य ज्यानिः = परज्यानिः – other’s (enemy’s) failure
Note: The sixth case affix in परस्य is as per the सूत्रम् 2-3-50 षष्ठी शेषे।
    अलौकिक-विग्रह: –
    पर ङस् + ज्यानि सुँ । By 2-2-8 षष्ठी – A पदम् ending in a sixth case affix optionally compounds with a (syntactically related) पदम् ending in a सुँप् affix and the resulting compound gets the designation तत्पुरुष:।
By 1-2-43 प्रथमानिर्दिष्टं समास उपसर्जनम् – the term ‘पर ङस्’ gets the designation उपसर्जनम् because in the सूत्रम् 2-2-8 (which prescribes the compounding) the term षष्ठी ends in the nominative case. Hence ‘पर ङस्’ is placed in the prior position in the compound as per the सूत्रम् 2-2-30 उपसर्जनं पूर्वम्‌।
Note: ‘पर ङस् + ज्यानि सुँ’ gets the designation प्रातिपदिकम्‌ by 1-2-46 कृत्तद्धितसमासाश्च। This allows 2-4-71 to apply in the next step.
    = परज्यानि । By 2-4-71 सुपो धातुप्रातिपदिकयोः।

Note: As per the सूत्रम् 2-4-26 परवल्लिङ्गं द्वन्द्वतत्पुरुषयोः, the compound प्रातिपदिकम् ‘परज्यानि’ is feminine since the latter member ‘ज्यानि’ of the compound is feminine. The compound declines like मति-शब्द:।
    The विवक्षा is प्रथमा-एकवचनम् ।
    परज्यानि + सुँ । By 4-1-2 स्वौजसमौट्छष्टाभ्याम्भिस्ङेभ्याम्भ्यस्ङसिँभ्याम्भ्यस्ङसोसाम्ङ्योस्सुप्।
    = परज्यानि + स् । अनुबन्ध-लोपः by 1-3-2 उपदेशेऽजनुनासिक इत्, 1-3-9 तस्य लोपः।
    = परज्यानि: । रुँत्व-विसर्गौ by 8-2-66 ससजुषो रुः and 8-3-15 खरवसानयोर्विसर्जनीयः।

    3. Which कृत् affix is used to derive the feminine प्रातिपदिकम् ‘नीति’ (seen in the form नीति: (प्रथमा-एकवचनम्) in the verses)?
    Answer: The कृत् affix ‘क्तिन्’ prescribed by 3-3-94 स्त्रियां क्तिन् is used to derive the feminine प्रातिपदिकम् ‘नीति’ from the verbal root √नी (णीञ् प्रापणे १. १०४९).

    (उपायादयः) नीयन्ते (संलभ्यन्ते) अस्यामनया वा = नीतिः – political science (that in which or by which means/remedies are found)

    Derivation is as follows –
नी + क्तिन् । By By 3-3-94 स्त्रियां क्तिन् – The affix क्तिन् may be used following a verbal root to denote in the feminine gender either (i) the sense of the verbal root as having attained to a completed state or (ii) any कारक: except the agent of the action, provided the word so derived is a proper name.
Note: In the present example the affix ‘क्तिन्’ is being used अधिकरणे करणे वा।
    Note: घञोऽपवादः । The affix क्तिन् prescribed by this सूत्रम् is a अपवाद: (exception) to the affix ‘घञ्’ prescribed by 3-3-18 भावे and 3-3-19 अकर्तरि च कारके संज्ञायाम्।
    = नीति । अनुबन्ध-लोपः by 1-3-3 हलन्त्यम्, 1-3-8 लशक्वतद्धिते and 1-3-9 तस्य लोपः। Note: The affix क्तिन् is a कित् (has the letter ‘क्’ as a इत्) and hence 1-1-5 क्क्ङिति च blocks 7-3-84 सार्वधातुकार्धधातुकयोः। 7-2-9 तितुत्रतथसिसुसरकसेषु च as well as 7-2-10 एकाच उपदेशेऽनुदात्तात्‌ prevents the affix क्तिन् from taking the augment इट् here.
    ‘नीति’ gets the प्रातिपदिक-सञ्ज्ञा by 1-2-46 कृत्तद्धितसमासाश्च। It declines like मति-शब्दः। प्रथमा-एकवचनम् is नीति:।

    4. Where has the सूत्रम् 2-2-6 नञ्‌ been used in the commentary?
    Answer: The सूत्रम् 2-2-6 नञ्‌ has been used in the form अविलम्बात् (पुंलिङ्ग-प्रातिपदिकम् ‘अविलम्ब’, पञ्चमी-एकवचनम्)।

    न विलम्ब: = अविलम्ब: – no delay.
    अलौकिक-विग्रह: –
    नञ्‌ + विलम्ब सुँ । By 2-2-6 नञ्‌ – The negation particle नञ्‌ (meaning ‘not’) optionally compounds with a सुबन्तं (ending in a सुँप् affix) पदम् and the resulting compound is a तत्पुरुष:।
Note: In the compound ‘अविलम्ब’ the particle नञ्‌ conveys the sense of विरोध: – opposite of that which is being negated.
Note: The negation particle नञ्‌ belongs to चादि-गणः (referenced in 1-4-57 चादयोऽसत्त्वे)। Hence it gets the designation निपात: by 1-4-56 प्राग्रीश्वरान्निपाताः and the designation अव्ययम् by 1-1-37 स्वरादिनिपातमव्ययम्।

As per 1-2-43 प्रथमानिर्दिष्टं समास उपसर्जनम् the term नञ्‌ gets the designation उपसर्जनम् because in the सूत्रम् 2-2-6 (which prescribes the compounding) the term नञ् ends in the nominative case. And hence as per 2-2-30 उपसर्जनं पूर्वम्‌ the term नञ्‌ is placed in the prior position in the compound.
    = न + विलम्ब सुँ । अनुबन्ध-लोपः by 1-3-3 हलन्त्यम्, 1-3-9 तस्य लोपः। Note: ‘न + विलम्ब सुँ’ gets the designation प्रातिपदिकम्‌ by 1-2-46 कृत्तद्धितसमासाश्च। This allows 2-4-71 सुपो धातुप्रातिपदिकयोः to apply in the next step.
    = न + विलम्ब । By 2-4-71 सुपो धातुप्रातिपदिकयोः।
    = अविलम्ब । By 6-3-73 नलोपो नञः।

    The विवक्षा is पञ्चमी-एकवचनम्।

    अविलम्ब + ङसिँ । By 4-1-2 स्वौजसमौट्छष्टाभ्याम्भिस्ङेभ्याम्भ्यस्ङसिँभ्याम्भ्यस्ङसोसाम्ङ्योस्सुप्।
= अविलम्ब + आत् । By 7-1-12 टाङसिङसामिनात्स्याः। Note: Since the substitute ‘आत्’ has more than one letter, as per the परिभाषा-सूत्रम् 1-1-55 अनेकाल्शित्सर्वस्य, the entire affix (and not just its last letter) is replaced by ‘आत्’।
    1-3-4 न विभक्तौ तुस्माः prevents the ending letter ‘त्’ of ‘आत्’ from getting the इत्-सञ्ज्ञा।
    = अविलम्बात् । By 6-1-101 अकः सवर्णे दीर्घः।

    5. Which सूत्रम् justifies the use of a fifth case affix in the form ब्राह्मणादित्वात् used in the commentary?
Answer: The सूत्रम् 2-3-25 विभाषा गुणेऽस्त्रियाम्‌ justifies the use of a fifth case affix in the form ब्राह्मणादित्वात्।
    ब्राह्मणादित्वात् is पञ्चमी-एकवचनम् of the नपुंसकलिङ्ग-प्रातिपदिकम् ‘ब्राह्मणादित्व’।

    ब्राह्मणादित्व + ङसिँ । By 4-1-2 स्वौजसमौट्छष्टाभ्याम्भिस्ङेभ्याम्भ्यस्ङसिँभ्याम्भ्यस्ङसोसाम्ङ्योस्सुप्। As per the सूत्रम् 2-3-25 विभाषा गुणेऽस्त्रियाम्‌ – A fifth case affix (‘ङसिँ’, ‘भ्याम्’, ‘भ्यस्’) is optionally used following a non-feminine प्रातिपदिकम् (nominal stem) which denotes a quality being a cause/reason.
Note: When the optional fifth case affix is not used, a third case affix is used as per 2-3-23 हेतौ। In the present example ‘ब्राह्मणादित्व’ is the non-feminine प्रातिपदिकम् (nominal stem) which denotes a quality being a cause/reason for applying the affix ‘ष्यञ्’ (in the word वाचस्पत्यम्) in the sense of भावे।
= ब्राह्मणादित्व + आत् । By 7-1-12 टाङसिङसामिनात्स्याः। Note: Since the substitute ‘आत्’ has more than one letter, as per the परिभाषा-सूत्रम् 1-1-55 अनेकाल्शित्सर्वस्य, the entire affix (and not just its last letter) is replaced by ‘आत्’।
    1-3-4 न विभक्तौ तुस्माः prevents the ending letter ‘त्’ of ‘आत्’ from getting the इत्-सञ्ज्ञा।
    = ब्राह्मणादित्वात् । By 6-1-101 अकः सवर्णे दीर्घः।

    6. How would you say this in Sanskrit?
“Having accepted Śrī Rāma’s sandals, Bharata returned to Ayodhyā.”
    Answer: श्रीरामस्य पादुके ऊरीकृत्य भरतः अयोध्याम् प्रत्याजगाम = श्रीरामस्य पादुके ऊरीकृत्य भरतोऽयोध्यां प्रत्याजगाम ।

    Answer: The सूत्रम् 6-4-44 तनोतेर्यकि prescribes the substitution ‘आ’ in the form प्रतायते – derived from the verbal root √तन् (तनुँ विस्तारे # ८. १). The alternate form is प्रतन्यते।

    The विवक्षा is लँट्, कर्मणि प्रयोग:, प्रथम-पुरुषः, एकवचनम्। The derivation is as follows –

    तन् + लँट् । By 3-2-123 वर्तमाने लट्।
    तन् + ल् । अनुबन्ध-लोपः by 1-3-2 उपदेशेऽजनुनासिक इत्, 1-3-3 हलन्त्यम्, 1-3-9 तस्य लोपः।
    = तन् + त । By 3-4-78 तिप्तस्झिसिप्थस्थमिब्वस्मस्तातांझथासाथांध्वमिड्वहिमहिङ्, 1-3-13 भावकर्मणोः।
    = तन् + ते । By 3-4-79 टित आत्मनेपदानां टेरे।
    = तन् + यक् + ते । By 3-1-67 सार्वधातुके यक् ।
    = तन् + य + ते । अनुबन्ध-लोपः by 1-3-3 हलन्त्यम्, 1-3-9 तस्य लोपः।
    = तन्यते / त आ + य + ते । By 6-4-44 तनोतेर्यकि – The letter ‘आ’ is optionally substituted for the final letter of the verbal root √तन् (तनुँ विस्तारे # ८. १) before the passive affix ‘यक्’। Note as per the परिभाषा-सूत्रम् 1-1-52 अलोऽन्त्यस्य only the ending letter ‘न्’ and not the entire verbal root ‘तन्’ is replaced by the letter ‘आ’।
    = तन्यते / तायते । By 6-1-101 अकः सवर्णे दीर्घः।
    ‘प्र’ is the उपसर्गः (ref. 1-4-59 उपसर्गाः क्रियायोगे, 1-4-80 ते प्राग्धातोः।)
    प्र + तन्यते / तायते = प्रतन्यते / प्रतायते।

    2. From which verbal root is the form विस्तार्यते (used in the commentary) derived?
Answer: The form form विस्तार्यते is derived from a causative form of the verbal root √स्तॄ (स्तॄञ् आच्छादने ९. १७). The derivation is as follows –

    स्तॄ + णिच् । By 3-1-26 हेतुमति च।
    = स्तॄ + इ । अनुबन्ध-लोपः by 1-3-3 हलन्त्यम्, 1-3-7 चुटू, 1-3-9 तस्य लोपः।
    = स्तर् + इ । By 7-3-84 सार्वधातुकार्धधातुकयोः, 1-1-51 उरण् रपरः।
    = स्तार् + इ । By 7-2-116 अत उपधायाः।
    = स्तारि । ‘स्तारि’ gets धातु-सञ्ज्ञा by 3-1-32 सनाद्यन्ता धातवः।

    विवक्षा is लँट्, कर्मणि प्रयोग:, प्रथम-पुरुषः, एकवचनम्।

    स्तारि + लँट् । By 3-2-123 वर्तमाने लट्।
    स्तारि + ल् । अनुबन्ध-लोपः by 1-3-2 उपदेशेऽजनुनासिक इत्, 1-3-3 हलन्त्यम्, 1-3-9 तस्य लोपः।
    = स्तारि + त । By 3-4-78 तिप्तस्झिसिप्थस्थमिब्वस्मस्तातांझथासाथांध्वमिड्वहिमहिङ्, 1-3-13 भावकर्मणोः।
    = स्तारि + ते । By 3-4-79 टित आत्मनेपदानां टेरे।
